Metro Tickets

* Single-Journey Ticket
IC Single-Journey Ticket-1 IC Single-Journey Ticket-2
  • Good for one passenger, one journey.
  • Can be bought from ticket vending machines at Metro stations.
  • Valid only on the day of issue.
  • Usage: Place tickets over the sensor area (marked with the Single-Journey Ticket logo) at a gate. When you hear the piano sound and the green arrow is displayed on the screen, the gate opens. Tickets will be retrieved when you exit at your destination.

* One-Day Pass
One-Day Pass
  • Fare: NT$150.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • A One-Day Pass is valid for unlimited Taipei Metro rides from first use until the end of service in a single day. It is only valid for one passenger each time.
  • The price of a One-Day Pass does not include a refundable deposit.
  • This One-Day Pass cannot be value-added.
  • Usage: Place the card over the sensor of the EasyCard logo at a gate. When you hear the piano sound and the green arrow is displayed on the screen, the gate opens.

* 24hr Taipei Metro Pass
24hr Taipei Metro Pass
  • Price: NT$180.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • The ticket is valid for unlimited travel on the Taipei Metro within 24 hours from the first use. It is only valid for one passenger at a time.
  • The ticket cannot be topped up and does not include a refundable deposit.
  • Usage: Place the card over the sensor of the EasyCard logo at a gate. When you hear the piano sound and the green arrow is displayed on the screen, the gate opens.

* 48hr Taipei Metro Pass
48hr Taipei Metro Pass
  • Price: NT$280.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • The ticket is valid for unlimited travel on the Taipei Metro within 48 hours from the first use. It is only valid for one passenger at a time.
  • The ticket cannot be topped up and does not include a refundable deposit.

* 72hr Taipei Metro Pass

  • Price: NT$380.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • The ticket is valid for unlimited travel on the Taipei Metro within 72 hours from the first use. It is only valid for one passenger at a time.
  • The ticket cannot be topped up and does not include a refundable deposit.
  • Usage: Place the card over the sensor of the EasyCard logo at a gate. When you hear the piano sound and the green arrow is displayed on the screen, the gate opens.

* One-Day Pass (for Bulk Purchase)
One-Day Pass (for Bulk Purchase)
  • This One-Day Pass is valid for unlimited Taipei Metro rides from the first use until the end of service in a single day. It is only valid for one passenger each time.
  • The price of the One-Day Pass does not include a refundable deposit and cannot be value-added.
  • For ticket refund, please directly contact the agency from which the passes were purchased. No individual refunds can be given at metro stations.

* Group Ticket
  • There is a 20% discount for groups of 10 or more passengers and 30% discount for groups of 40 or more.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • No refunds can be given once issued. The ticket must bear TRTC's stamp.
  • Usage: Contact station staff to enter/exit the station through the "Group Ticket Entrance/Exit."

* Single-Journey Ticket for Cyclists
  • Fare: NT$80.
  • Available at all metro station information counters.
  • This ticket is valid for one person with a single bicycle. Please return the ticket to station staff at your destination.
  • The ticket is valid only at certain stations and only on the day of issue.
  • No refunds can be given once issued. The ticket must bear TRTC's stamp.
  • Usage: Contact station staff to enter/exit the station through the "Group Ticket Entrance/Exit."

Tickets issued by the EasyCard Corporation

  • EasyCards are sold outright without credit or deposit. Users must observe the regulations governing EasyCard issuance and usage as stipulated by the EasyCard Corporation. For more information, please visit the official website of EasyCard Corporation.

  • How to use the EasyCard in Taipei Metro
    Place the EasyCard over the sensor of the EasyCard logo at the gate. When you hear the piano sound and the green arrow is displayed on the screen, the gate opens.
  • Introduction to types of EasyCard
* Second-generation Adult EasyCard
  • Eligibility: General public
  • Price: NT$100 (no deposit included)
  • Availability: All Taipei Metro stations, convenience stores displaying the EasyCard logo, and EasyCard Corporation service centers.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who are using an Adult EasyCard to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive an NT$ 8 discount.

* Second-generation Student EasyCard
  • Eligibility: Students, police and military personnel.
  • Price: NT$100 (no deposit included)
  • Availability: All Taipei Metro stations, convenience stores displaying the EasyCard logo. Valid student, police or military ID required.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who are using a Student EasyCard to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive a NT$ 6 discount.
  • Upon activation on a public bus in Taipei, New Taipei City or Keelung, users of the Second-generation Student EasyCard receive discounted travel for 20 days (after which fares are assessed like a regular EasyCard). Cardholders are advised to register their card within five days after purchase. Upon receiving an approval notice from the EasyCard Corporation, cardholders must take their card to a designated location (7-ELEVEN, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, OK Mart, EasyCard service centers, Taipei Metro stations, top-up machines) to register to continue receiving student discounts.

* Digital Student Identity EasyCard
  • Eligibility: Students.
  • How to apply: Centralized application services through local education authorities or schools applying to EasyCard Corporation.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who are using a digital student identity card (elementary school) to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive a NT$ 4 discount. Those who are using a digital student identity card (junior high school and above) to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive a NT$ 6 discount.

* Second-generation Concessionaire EasyCard
  • Eligibility:
    1. Senior citizens (aged 65 and above) and disabled persons;
    2. Children between 6 and 12 years of age;
    3. Indigenous persons (aged 55 and above).
  • Price: NT$100 (no deposit included)
  • Availability: All Taipei Metro stations and convenience stores displaying the EasyCard logo.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount off each trip.
  • Transfer discounts: NT$ 4 discount off all Discount EasyCard transfers between metro and bus within one hour.
    (Note: for disabled passengers with valid disability ID, their companions and passengers aged 65 and above with valid ID are eligible for a 60% discount on single tickets purchased at the information counter.)

* Senior/Charity/Companion EasyCards
  • Eligibility and application: Please ask your local government for details (for cities and counties that have already joined the system, please check the EasyCard Company’s official Chinese website at http://www.easycard.com.tw/easycard/02/apply.asp).
  • Guide to Senior/Charity EasyCards
    1. MRT: 60% discount on all trips.
    2. Transfer discount: Within one hour of transferring between bus and MRT.
    (1) MRT to bus: EasyCards with free bus ride points (Taipei and New Taipei City) will have 1 (instead of 2) point deducted; if the free bus ride points have been used up, NT$4 will be deducted from the EasyCard on bus services (a NT$4 discount).
    (2) Bus to MRT: NT$4 discount off Metro fares upon exit.
  • Guide to Companion EasyCards
    1. MRT: Companion EasyCards pay normal fares when travelling alone, but receive the same discount as Charity cardholders when used immediately after the Charity EasyCard.
    2. Transfer discount: Within one hour of transferring between bus and MRT. NT$ 4 discount if used on the same device immediately after its Charity EasyCard, or NT$ 8 off if used alone.

* Co-branded EasyCard
  • Application: Apply with the issuing bank.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who are using a co-branded EasyCard to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive an NT$ 8 discount.

* Other types of EasyCards
  • Registered EasyCard, Card with special theme, IC commodities are available for sale/applied in accordance with regulations promulgated by EasyCard Corporation.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who are using other types of EasyCard to transfer from metro to bus or vice versa within one hour will receive an NT$ 8 discount.

* Taipei Pass
  • There are 4 types: 1-day pass (NT$180), 2-day pass (NT$310), 3-day pass (NT$440) and 5-day pass (NT$700). After ticket holders have activated the pass by ticket reader on bus or MRT gates, the pass is valid for unlimited Taipei Metro rides and rides on Taipei City/New Taipei City buses (carrying the Taipei Pass Sticker) while the ticket is valid.   • Taipei Pass (Maokong Gondola Version) is a one day pass (NT$350). This Taipei Pass can be activated by ticket reader on bus, or at metro or Gondola ticket gates. (Please do not activate the pass when service is suspended on the Maokong Gondola. For Maokong Gondola’s service hours, please refer to the official website of Maokong Gondola.) It is valid for unlimited Taipei Metro rides and rides on Taipei City/New Taipei City buses (carrying the Taipei Pass Sticker), and Gondola rides from first use until the end of service on a single day.   • Available at all Taipei Metro station information counters and EasyCard service centers.
  • Unused tickets are refundable with NT$20 handling fee.

Tickets issued by the iPASS Corporation

  • iPASSes are sold outright without credit or deposit. Users must observe the regulations governing iPASS issuance and usage as stipulated by the iPASS Corporation. For more information, please visit the official website of the iPASS Corporation website.
    iPass General Adult Card

  • Types of cards:
* General Adult iPASS
  • Eligibility: General public
  • Price: NT$100 (no deposit included).
  • Availability: Available at select retailers and all Metro stations.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who use a general adult iPASS to transfer from the metro to a bus or vice versa within one hour will receive an NT$8 discount.

*Co-branded iPASS
  • Application: Apply with the issuing bank.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who use an co-branded iPASS to transfer from metro to a bus or vice versa within one hour will receive an NT$ 8 discount.

* Student iPASS
  • Eligibility: Sutdents currently enrolled at schools recognized by the Ministry of Education and holding valid documentary proof thereof.
  • Price: NT$100 (without a deposit).
  • Availability:Available at select retailers.
  • Metro discount: 20% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who use a student iPASS to transfer from metro to a bus or vice versa within one hour will receive a NT$ 6 discount.

*Welfare iPASS
  • Eligibility: Ask your local government for details.
  • Metro discount: 60% discount on each trip.
  • Transfer discount: Passengers who use a welfare iPASS to transfer from metro to a bus or vice versa within one hour will receive a NT$ 4 discount.

HappyCash issued by Yuan Hsin Digital Payment Co., Ltd
