Spokespeople B.T.O.D, Shu-Yao Kuo, and Shou Lou encourage dancers to bravely chase their dreams

To celebrate the return of the Metro Street Dance Competition in 2022, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) has switched things up by inviting three spokespeople—B.T.O.D, Shu-Yao Kuo, and Shou Lou—to jointly promote a new and improved version of the most exciting street dance event in Taiwan! Registration is now open to all dancing enthusiasts until 21:00 on August 12 (Friday) via the official website of the Metro Street Dance Competition. The event will be offering up to NT$1.38 million in cash prizes.

The Preliminary Rounds will take place on August 27 (Saturday) and 28 (Sunday) in a closed off area of Section 1, Daan Road in Taipei's Eastern District. In addition to the street dance competition, there will also be a 2022 Metro Street Dance Competition Carnival being held that will feature musical performances and a bustling market. All dancing enthusiasts are warmly invited to join in the competition, and the public are welcome to come cheer on the participants.

The Metro Street Dance Competition was put on hold last year due to the epidemic, and therefore many dance lovers have been greatly anticipating this year's contest. The event was jointly organized by TRTC and Cathay United Bank under the theme "In 2022, the whole Taipei Metro is my dance floor." The 2022 Metro Street Dance Competition is officially kicking off following the spirited conclusion of the 2022 Metro Inter-School Street Dance Competition. With various events unfolding successively, street dance lovers can look forward to competitions every month and embrace the idea that any place can be their dance floor. The metro's extensive network has also helped in the widespread dissemination of street dance to all corners of the city. The venue for the Preliminary Rounds held on August 27-28 has been changed to Section 1, Daan Road in the Eastern District of Taipei, whereas an area between Zhongxiao East Road and Civic Boulevard will be closed for the 2022 Metro Street Dance Competition Carnival. The gathering will be an occasion for young people to freely express their creativity and enthusiasm, where everyone can enjoy themselves and take part in the biggest street dance party.

This year's Metro Street Dance Competition has set a new record for having the most spokespeople. The professional accomplishments of boy band B.T.O.D, Shu-Yao Kuo, and Shou Lou, which range from singing, dancing, advertisements, to acting, further highlight the range of the competition and adds to the event's popular appeal.

B.T.O.D's leader Ranny is also the leader of Hizam, the winners of last year's Metro Street Dance Competition. He still finds it incredible how the Competition transformed him from an ordinary citizen into a spokesperson. Ranny encourages everyone to seize the opportunity to display the best version of themselves onstage, and bravely chase their dreams. Lovely and sweet personality Shu-Yao Kuo admits that, while her dancing skills were never good enough to enter in a competition, she is honored now to be able to participate as a spokesperson. She hopes that everyone can continue doing what they enjoy, adding that it is especially wonderful to practice hard and compete alongside a group of friends who love to dance. Popular rap and urban R&B artist Shou Lou was also invited as a spokesperson with the aim to draw the attention of street dance music enthusiasts. Let's earnestly await the powerful performances and displays of talent that emerge from this year's Metro Street Dance Competition.

The Preliminary Rounds of the 2022 Metro Street Dance Competition will be held on August 27 (Saturday) and 28 (Sunday), and the Finals will take place on September 24. The Choreography Competition will be split into two divisions: Youth Division and Adult Division. Champions will be awarded NT$160,000, the first runner-up NT$100,000, and the second runner-up NT$50,000. Within each division, three teams will receive a merit award of NT$20,000, and four teams will be given a qualifier award of NT$2,500. As for the Break Dance Battle, the champions will win NT$100,000, with the second- and third-place winners receiving NT$40,000 and NT$20,000, respectively. In addition, the TRTC will continue to provide subsidies and awards for participants of international competitions, allowing street dancers to step onto the international stage and showcase Taiwan's dance character and style!
