Travel Passes can be purchased with multi-payment methods at Multi-Payment Ticketing Machines located at the following stations: Taipei Main Station, Ximen, Zhongshan, Nangang, Banqiao, Longshan Temple, Songjiang Nanjing, Xingtian Temple, Tamsui, Zhishan, Songshan Airport, Taipei 101/World Trade Center.

Transfer within the station: Switch lines directly without tapping out at the transfer station.

Transfer outside the station: Tap out at the transfer station (Banqiao or Xinpu), then tap in with the same card (ticket) at the Circular Line station within 20 minutes to continue your journey.

•    Using a stored-value card or multi-payment method: The gate deducts the full fare from entry to the transfer station when you tap out. At your destination, the gate automatically adjusts for the "shortest mileage" fare, refunding or charging the difference.

•    Using a single-journey ticket: If the ticket fare doesn't cover entry to the transfer station, you need to top up at the station information counter before tapping out. At your destination, visit the information counter for a refund.

Example 1:

Fare from (R) Zhongshan Station to (Y) Touqianzhuang Station: NT$25, transferring at (BL) Banqiao Station.

•    Using Stored Value Cards/Multi-Payment: Tap in at (R) Zhongshan → Tap out at (BL) Banqiao (gate deducts NT$30). Within 20 min, tap in at (Y) Banqiao → Tap out at (Y) Touqianzhuang (gate auto-refunds NT$5).

•    Using Single-Journey Tickets: Buy NT$25 ticket → Tap in at (R) Zhongshan → At (BL) Banqiao, top up NT$5 at the information counter and tap out. Within 20 min, tap in at (Y) Banqiao → Before tapping out at (Y) Touqianzhuang, get a NT$5 refund at the information counter.

Example 2:

Fare from Ximen Station to (Y) Xingfu Station: NT$30, transferring at (BL) Banqiao Station.

•    Using Stored Value Cards/Multi-Payment: Tap in at Ximen → Tap out at (BL) Banqiao (gate deducts NT$25). Within 20 min, tap in at (Y) Banqiao → Tap out at (Y) Xingfu (gate auto-charges NT$5).

•    Using Single-Journey Tickets: Buy NT$30 ticket → Tap in at Ximen → Tap out at (BL) Banqiao (no top-up needed). Within 20 min, tap in at (Y) Banqiao → Tap out at (Y) Xingfu (no refund needed).

2. For mobile QR tickets, you can ask the staff at the Metro station information counters to print a receipt for you.

2. If the ticket can't be used due to poor storage (like getting dirty, wet, or damaged), it unfortunately can't be refunded, and you'll need to buy a new one. (According to Regulations for Use of the Taipei Metro System Article 19, passengers failing to comply with the operating regulations of the ticket gates must settle the fare for their trip due in full at the Information Counter.)

1. You can buy a QR single-journey ticket at station ticketing machines with cash. 

2. You can also purchase one through the Go! Taipei Metro app using a credit card or e-payment. 

Usage:

1. When entering or exiting, hold the QR code about 4–5 cm from the scanner on the gate. When you hear the sound and see the green arrow on the screen, the gate will open; scan the QR code again when you exit. 

2. Each QR single-journey ticket is for one person only and cannot be shared. 

3. When using a QR single-journey ticket for out-of-station transfers, you can use any gate—there's no need to go through a specific one. For the Circular Line, please tap your card at the staff gate as shown on the station signs.

Transit QR Code (乘車碼): 

1. If you use Easy Wallet, iPASS MONEY, or icash Pay to ride both the bus and the Metro, you can enjoy the two-way transfer discount between the two. To qualify for the discount, please use the same electronic payment method and transfer directly between the Metro and the bus within one hour. (Transfers through other transport modes are not eligible.)

2. Transfer discounts are given after your trips are completed. During the month of travel, all fares will be charged at the regular rate. The electronic payment provider will then calculate your eligible transfer discounts in the following month and return the refund to your e-payment wallet. For rides taken in January and February 2026, refunds will start being issued monthly beginning from March 2026.

3. If you have any questions about transfer discounts, please contact the electronic payment provider of your Transit QR Code (乘車碼).

When you enter the Metro gate, the system performs a NT$0 pre-authorization (once per card per day). The total fare for all trips taken that day will be aggregated, settled, and billed at 02:00 (a.m.) the following day. Your issuing bank will send a transaction notification based on your notification settings for the actual billed amount.

Example:

If a passenger uses a Taishin Bank VISA card to take the Taipei Metro on January 5, 2026, making four trips at NT$20 each (total NT$80), Taishin Bank will process the settlement with Taipei Metro at 02:00 (a.m.) on January 6, 2026, and send a transaction notification for NT$80 according to the cardholder’s settings.

Mastercard and JCB cards:

When you enter the Metro gate, the system performs a NT$1 pre-authorization (once per card per day). Your issuing bank will send a transaction notification for this NT$1 pre-authorization based on your notification settings. The total fare for all trips taken that day will be aggregated, settled, and billed at 02:00 (a.m.) the following day; no additional transaction notification will be sent for the actual total fare.

Example:

If a passenger uses a Taishin Bank Mastercard or JCB card to take the Taipei Metro on January 5, 2026, making four trips at NT$20 each (total NT$80), Taishin Bank will process the settlement at 02:00 (a.m.) on January 6, 2026. However, no separate transaction notification will be sent for the NT$80 fare.

When riding using a bank card, the card cannot record travel information in stored-value card mode. This is on account of relevant regulations prohibiting our systems from retaining bank card numbers. Therefore, using a bank card to take the metro is regarded as a single-journey ticket transaction and is not eligible for the Frequent Passenger Program.

Transit QR Code(乘車碼):

Taking the metro with a Transit QR Code (乘車碼) qualifies for the Frequent Passenger Program. The reward will be credited back by the e-payment provider on the 5th of the next month (actual timing depends on the provider's system). However, Frequent Passenger Program Transit QR Code (乘車碼) discounts can't be merged into other types of payment.

2. The LINE Pay Money system is still being set up due to it being added at a later date. Please check our official website for announcements regarding the service launch date.

3. To use a Transit QR Code(乘車碼), first download and install the provider's app on your phone and set up the QR code feature (including linking your account). If you have questions about the app, contact the e-payment provider. 

4. Before entering the gate, open the Transit QR Code(乘車碼) in the app (note: not the payment QR code), then hold it up to the gate scanner.

 5. Each QR code is for one person only and can't be shared. 

 6. If your account balance goes below zero, you won't be able to scan in or out until you top up your account.

1. You can currently use Apple Pay with a linked bank card to tap in and out of stations (the phone must be unlocked and tapped on the bank card sensor).

2. The Apple Pay transit card service is not yet available (it also requires linking a bank card but allows tapping at the bank card sensor without unlocking the phone).

2. Simply tap your bank card on the card reader area to enter the station.

3. You can also link a bank card to a mobile wallet like Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or Apple Pay, and tap your phone on the card reader to ride. 

Note: If your bank card also has a stored-value card feature (like a co-branded EasyCard), where you tap determines how you're charged—tapping at the bank card reader charges your card, while tapping at the stored-value reader deducts from your e-wallet balance.

(1) General, Student, Concessionaire, Companion Cards (used alone), and all metro ticket types charged at full fare: NT$8 discount per trip.

(2) Senior cards, Taipei Elementary School Digital Student Cards (Taipei Children's Concessionary Cards), New Taipei Children's Cards, Charity Cards, and Companion Cards used immediately after the Charity Cards: NT$4 per trip.

2. Transfers between New Taipei Light Rail (Danhai LRT, Ankeng LRT) and Taipei Metro and New Taipei Metro Circular Line must be direct transfers without using other transportation modes in between, such as Taiwan Railway, Maokong Gondola, long-distance buses, HSR, taxis, YouBike, etc. Otherwise, it will be considered an interrupted transfer and the discount will not apply.

If your travel behavior complies with all transfer discount regulations but you did not receive the transfer discount, you may directly contact the responsible transport authority for assistance, or apply at the metro station information counter for follow-up processing. Cases will be investigated by our staff who will then process refunds, or transfer the matter to the relevant responsible authority for subsequent handling.

(1) Passengers must not obstruct other passengers with their carry-on luggage, and must stay by its side at all times;

(2) The size of any carry-on object may not exceed 165cm on its  longest side, and the sum of its length, width, and height may not  exceed 220cm. However, this regulation does not apply to  wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, motorized vehicles, strollers, bicycles, surfboards,  pet strollers, double basses, and other carry-on objects approved  by the TRTC; 

(3) The maximum number of balloons allowed onto the trains is 5 per 

person. The longest side of any balloon may not exceed 50cm;

(4) Vehicles, electric wheelchairs, motorized vehicles, electric scooters, or other similar motorized tools are not allowed within Taipei Metro premises. However, passengers possess a valid disability permit or have obtained prior permission from the TRTC may use mobility aids such as wheelchairs or personal mobility devices to travel at low speeds within stations;

(5) Passengers with bicycles may only walk their bicycles. Riding and gliding are prohibited. Cyclists shall abide by the “Notice to  Passengers Traveling with Bicycles.” Foldable bicycles that are fully collapsed and securely packaged may be carried onto trains and into stations;

(6) Non-metro personnel are not permitted to carry or use carts or other similar tools in stations or trains. However, this restriction shall not apply to those who have obtained permission from the TRTC and comply with the general regulations on the dimensions of carry-on luggage and objects carried by passengers.

(7) Carry-on surfboards may not exceed 180cm on the longest side. 

Tail rudders, foot ropes, and other protruding items must be 

removed and stowed away during the journey. Surfboards 

between 165 and 180cm long are only admitted on the Taipei 

Metro during public holidays. Passengers with surfboards should 

travel on the first and last carriages only, and should not use the 

escalators. 

(8) Passengers with double basses should have them packed properly 

and must abide by the “Notice for Passengers Traveling with 

Double Basses.”

(9) Passengers with pet strollers shall abide by the “Notice for Passengers Traveling with Pet Strollers;”

2. Use the same EasyCard to enter and exit the parking lot.

The Operation Control Center (OCC) will immediately gather information on the earthquake, evaluate its impact on the metro system, and determine which of the following measures to adopt:

1. If the earthquake intensity was 2 or 3, on the high-capacity system the train operator will switch to code-manual mode and proceed at a speed of 40 km/h or under while conducting a track inspection. On the Wenhu Line, the OCC will reduce train speed to 50% of the speed limit. If inspections do not uncover any abnormalities, system operations will return to normal.

2. If the earthquake intensity was 4 or 5 and peak ground acceleration is ≦100 gal, the train will advance to the next station at a low speed to evacuate passengers. Then, on the high-capacity system the train operator will switch to code-manual mode and proceed at a speed of 15 km/h or under while conducting a track inspection. On the Wenhu Line, the OCC will ask staff to board the train and inspect the tracks while the train proceeds at 25% of the speed limit. If inspections do not uncover any abnormalities, system operations will return to normal.

3. If the earthquake intensity was 5 and peak ground acceleration is >100 gal, staff will walk out to the train to inspect the tracks, and the train will slowly advance to the next station to evacuate passengers. System operations will then be suspended temporarily. After all passengers are evacuated, staff will walk down the track to inspect the track. When the track inspection is completed, on the high-capacity system the train operator will switch to code-manual mode and proceed at a speed of 25 km/h while conducting a track inspection. On the Wenhu Line, the OCC will ask staff to board the train and inspect the tracks while the train proceeds at 50% of the speed limit. If inspections do not uncover any abnormalities, system operations will return to normal.

2. The price of the Pass is NT$180.

3. Valid for unlimited travel on the Taipei Metro and New Taipei Metro Circular Line within 24 hours of first use. The Pass has no expiry date and can be refunded at any time as long as it has not been activated.

4. The Pass cannot be topped up and is only valid for one passenger at a time.

One-Day Pass:

1. Available at any Taipei Metro information counter.

2. The price of the Pass is NT$150.

3. The Pass can be activated on any day. Once activated by a ticket gate, it is valid for unlimited travel on the Taipei Metro and New Taipei Metro Circular Line (not valid for bus transfers) from first use until end of service on the same day. The Pass has no expiry date and can be refunded at any time as long as it has not been activated.

4. The Pass cannot be topped up and is only valid for one passenger at a time.

The East Metro Mall is located on the Nangang Line (between Zhongxiao Fuxing Station and Zhongxiao Dunhua Station). It spans 725m and opens from 11:00 to 22:00 (Book store opens from 11:00 to 21:30) , every day.
