Volunteer

The Taipei Metro Volunteer Brigade was established on December 16, 2000, and has expanded along with the growing metro network. If you have a strong interest in volunteer work, you are welcome to join the brigade to serve metro passengers and ensure they enjoy an easy and comfortable journey.

(I) Requirements
To maintain quality of volunteer service, candidates must have at least a high school or vocational school degree, be in good mental and physical condition, and be of upstanding character. After passing an interview, candidates must complete 6 credit hours of basic training designated by the competent authority through the Taipei e-Campus website and other channels, receive Taipei Metro Volunteer Basic Training, and then pass an internship before officially becoming a volunteer.

(II) Service Hours

  1. In-stations: 2 hour-units between 7 am and 10 pm
  2. During events: According to event requirements

(III) Service Scope

  1. Regular Volunteer
    1) Answer passengers' inquiries, assist in purchasing tickets, entering/exiting gates, trains, elevators, or escalators, and help with crowd management and emergency evacuation situations.
    2) Help maintain safety and order inside/outside stations.
    3) Report illegal posters and flyers in Taipei Metro premises.
    4) Assist Taipei Metro staff with passenger service during holidays or events.
    5) Other temporary tasks.
  2. Platform Volunteer
    1) Be aware of hazards due to crowding when passengers enter/exit trains, in order to prevent passengers from being struck by the train or platform doors or getting their feet caught in the platform gap.
    2) Prevent passengers from rushing onto trains after the warning buzzer has sounded.
    3) Assist in crowd management when passengers enter/exit trains.
    4) Assist elderly and disabled passengers moving between trains and elevators or escalators.
    5) Answer passengers' inquiries while performing the aforementioned services.
  3. Taipei Children's Amusement Park Volunteer
    1) Provide necessary services for visitors and respond to visitors' inquiries.
    2) Assist with other assigned work when on duty.
    ※Remarks:
         A. The service venue is next to the National Taiwan Science Education Center (Address: No. 55, Sec. 5, Chengde Road, Shilin District, Taipei)
         B. Planned working schedule: 2 hour shifts from 9 am to 5 pm (no later than 8pm), every Tuesday to Sunday.
         C. Transportation: MRT Jiantan Station then bus transfer.

(IV) Taipei Metro Basic Training
Taipei Metro volunteer candidates are required to take a 6 credit hour basic training course held by Taipei Metro.
A. Training for regular and platform volunteers
The curriculum includes introduction to metro systems and the Volunteer Brigade, hands-on drills operating safety equipment in stations, simple first aid, emergency evacuation, manners, and guiding visually disabled passengers. Crowd management exercises for regular and platform volunteers vary in line with position requirements.
B. Training for Taipei Children's Amusement Park volunteers
The curriculum includes introduction to Taipei Children's Amusement Park and the Volunteer Brigade, customer consulting, basic first aid, emergency evacuation, and ethics. Training is conducted according to circumstances.

(V) Internship
A candidate who passes a 3-month internship at scheduled positions and times can become an official volunteer for Taipei Metro.
