Wireless Broadband Network

The Establishment of MRT Public Wireless Broadband Network

In response to the growing needs of an information society and the global trend toward digitalization, the Taipei City Government has been actively developing a wireless broadband network since February 2004. Given its high ridership counts, surrounding population density and the numerous business areas it runs through, Taipei MRT stations have also been included in the scope of wireless broadband constructions.

Free public Wi-Fi is now available in all Taipei MRT stations and trains. To access the new service, TPE-Free AD Wi-Fi, connect to "TPE-FreeADWiFi-Car" on trains and "TPE-Free AD WiFi" in stations. TPE-Free AD Wi-Fi is an upgrade over the previous network, Taipei Free, which was only available in stations. For more information please refer to www.adwifi.com.tw/tpe-free-ad-wifi/ (Chinese)
