Once the Central Weather Bureau issues a typhoon warning for northern Taiwan, the Operation Control Center (OCC) will follow the typhoon through the Central Weather Bureau website and take any necessary actions to prepare for its arrival. Staff will increase the frequency of inspections to ensure stations, trains, and equipment are in good order. Depending on wind speeds, Taipei Metro may adopt the following emergency measures:

1. Wenhu Lines:

(1) When gusts reach force 8 (17.2 m/s), all trains will be slowed down.

(2) When gusts reach force 10 (24.5 m/s) or average wind speeds reach force 7 (13.9 m/s), all train operations will be suspended and passengers will be evacuated.

2. Tamsui-Xinyi, Songshan-Xindian, Zhonghe-Xinlu, and Bannan Lines:

(1) When gusts reach force 8 (17.2 m/s), all trains running on elevated railways will be slowed down.

(2) When gusts reach force 10 (24.5 m/s) or average wind speeds reach force 7 (13.9 m/s), all trains running on elevated railways will suspend service and passengers will be evacuated.

(3) Trains in non-affected underground railways will remain operational, though headway may be adjusted as necessary.

During a typhoon, Taipei Metro will release operational information through media outlets to keep the public updated on train operation status, as well as communicate with passengers through passenger information displays, broadcasts, and notices at stations.
